THE HOTEL BALLYMUN ART BURSARY
In 2007 artist Seamus Nolan, commissioned by Breaking Ground, launched the hugely successful Hotel Ballymun project, which saw the conversion of the top floor of Clarke Tower into a short stay hotel for one month. Completely booked out, both Seamus and Breaking Ground were keen to see that the money taken in from bookings would be returned to the community in a meaningful way.
Breaking Ground invited expressions of interest from local based artists and aspiring artists for the Hotel Ballymun Art Bursary. Following a fantastic response, 17 applicants were selected for an arts bursary. The successful applicants will use the bursaries in a number of ways including art training/development, mentoring, exhibition support, equipment and materials purchase. The successful applicants include Daniel Seery, Cecilia Moore, John Duffy, Rita Cahill & Frank Scalzo, Suzanne O'Toole, Hugh O'Neill, Helen Nic Giolla Rua, John Montague, Robert O'Connor, Long Weng, Aideen McBride, Ciaran Breathnach, Loretta Byrne, Ciara Hession, Samantha Judge, Deirdre Walsh, and Damian Fay.

Samantha Judge and Ciara Hession from Youthreach, both received Hotel Ballymun art bursary awards.
