Daphne Wright is known for sculptural installations that explore the hinterland between the conscious and unconscious mind. She engages with ambivalent feelings such as loneliness, anxiety and isolation, expressing her responses in sculptural forms that are often made with unexpected materials. Wright’s imposing, yet ultimately delicate, sculpture for the Council Chamber was handmade with fibreglass and household tinfoil.
